1. Identifying Graph Characteristics in Growing Vascular Networks
Master-uppsats, Uppsala universitet/Tillämpad beräkningsvetenskapSammanfattning : One of the ways that a vascular network grows is through the process of angiogenesis, wherebya new blood vessel forms as a branch from an existing vessel towards an area which isstimulating vascular growth. Due to the demands for nutrients and waste transport, growingtumour cells will access the surrounding vascular network by inducing angiogenesis. LÄS MER
2. Image Mosaicking Using Vessel Segmentation for Application During Fetoscopic Surgery
Master-uppsats, Uppsala universitet/Institutionen för informationsteknologiSammanfattning : Twin-to-twin-transfusion syndrome is a condition where there is an imbalance in the shared blood circulation between monochorionic twin fetuses due to certaininter-twin vascular connections (anastomoses) in the placenta which has very high morbidity and mortality rate for both fetuses. Fetoscopic laser occlusive coagulation(FLOC) surgery is commonly used to treat the condition which uses a fetoscope to explore the placenta and a laser to occlude the anastomoses causing the imbalance inblood circulation. 3. THE NEURODEGENERATION PROCESS IN THE STRIATUM OF MICE EXPOSED TO OBESOGENIC DIETS
Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Examensarbeten i molekylärbiologiSammanfattning : Obesity and diabetes are known to impact brain function and alter metabolism. Studies in rodents show that consumption of high fat and high sugar diets lead to brain dysfunction affecting memory and cognition, and increases risk of cerebro-vascular and neurodegenerative disorders. 4. Engineering Vascularized Skin Tissue in a 3D format supported by Recombinant Spider Silk
Master-uppsats, KTH/ProteinteknologiSammanfattning : Skin is an organ with a complex structure which plays a crucial role in thebody’s defence against external threats and in maintaining major homeostatic functions. The need for in vitro models that mimic the in vivo milieu is therefore high and relevant with various applications including, among others, penetration, absorption, and toxicity studies. LÄS MER
