Ingen kommer att tro mig... : En studie om kvinnors våld mot män i nära relationer

Sammanfattning: The purpose of this qualitative study was to explore women's violence against men in intimate relationships. The survey consisted of five interviews with abused men in intimate relationships. These were analysed with the help of previous research, and victimology, gender theory and Connell's Masculinities as theoretical starting points. During the essay three themes of men’s perceptions and experiences were discovered: domestic violence, assistance and treatment, men’s perspective on masculinity and values. The results showed that men were exposed to violence in intimate relationships to the same extent as women. However, men are more exposed to psychological violence while women are subjected to more physical violence. The results also showed the lack of assistance for abused men and the lack of hospitality of social workers. The survey also highlights men's views on masculinity and gender stereotypes and how this affected them during the period they were abused.
