”Jag kan tycka att man ska ha mer eller ja…” Biståndshandläggares bedömning av en skälig levnadsnivå inom äldreomsorgen

Sammanfattning: The aim of this study was to examine how assessment officers for the elderly were interpreting the concept of a “reasonable standard of living”. Which is described in a certain paragraph in the Swedish social services act (SoL) in assessing the application. We held qualitative interviews with various assistance officers in the south of Sweden where they gave us their view on the meaning of “reasonable standard of living”. There were different ways of interpreting a reasonable standard of living and to work with it. The assistance officers experienced pressure from many different angles. Factors such as organization, policies, experienced support and politicians influenced the administrators work situation. Our results demonstrated the difficulties concerning the assessment of how to interpret the term.
