Sammanfattning: There are only a few construction projects that include a Logistic Manager today. In many cases the profit is hard to see, since the involving tasks in logistics are the same even if there is a Logistic Manager included in the project or not. It may seem like the job is already taken care of and that a Logistic Manager therefore would be unnecessary. Even though the project tasks are the same, the job can be helped with a Logistic Manager, since they get a full view over the construction site. If the work is divided between a few participants there is a risk of postponing the tasks, because there may not be enough time or dedication to complete it. The need of a Logistic Manager is decided from different factors where the surroundings are the most significant. A few examples when a detailed plan for the logistics is required are; if a construction site lacks space, many activities are going on around it that needs coordination and if there is only one exit for access. The Project manager has an important say in the decision to employ a Logistic Manager. It is not necessary with a Logistic Manager in all projects; the problem is to decide where the exact profitable breaking point is. According to what has been discovered during the study about the need, it is not possible to only refer to the project cost when making decision about about hiring a Logistic Manager is considered. Several causes are important, for example the work area, number of workers, how flexible the time schedule is etcetera. The study has designed a template to help the management make a decision when it is necessary to employ a Logistic Manager on a project.
