Väljs rätt transportinfrastruktur? En samhällsekonomisk bedömning av Västlänken

Detta är en Kandidat-uppsats från Lunds universitet/Nationalekonomiska institutionen

Sammanfattning: The West Link Project is a transport infrastructural investment in the expansion of public transport in the region Västra Götaland. The choice of transport infrastructure falls under the domain of the Swedish government, usually paid for by Swedish taxpayers. Therefore it is important to know if the choices made surrounding these investments are socio-economically profitable and whether or not the choices made are the most beneficial for society. By using existing ideas and theories surrounding large infrastructural investments, the West Link Project is discussed in an attempt to estimate its profitability with regards to transport policy goals and projected returns. The main findings are that there are many factors that could affect the original calculations, resulting in a lower socio-economic profitability than the one presented by public officials.
