Sammanfattning: Background How people experience taste is affected by many different factors such as taste buds, emotions, other senses and memories. Research shows that one of the most important things for the students when they cooked in Home and Consumer Studies was that the food tasted good. In the current curriculum for compulsory school, preschool class and after-school center 2011, there is no clear description of the work with taste, while taste in the forthcoming curriculum for compulsory school, pre-school class and after-school center 2022 is clearly included in the central content. Objective The purpose of the study was to investigate how teachers in Home- and consumer studies have worked with taste in their teaching in the current curriculum, how they planned to work with taste in their teaching based on the revised curriculum. As well as examining the significance and influence of taste in teaching.Method The study is based on a qualitative method in the form of interviews with eight active teachers who teach in middle to upper secondary school. The interviews were conducted using a semi-structured question guide. The interviews were recorded, transcribed and analyzed with qualitative content analysis.Results Three main categories and eight subcategories were identified. Hkk teachers try to work encouraging and flexible with taste but are challenged by varying attitudes and lack of time. The content of the curriculum gives teachers freedom of choice in the work with taste. Students different tastes and food cultures influence the teacher's work with taste. Conclusion Teachers work actively with taste regardless of interpretation of the current curriculum, and they see the clarity about taste in the revised curriculum as a confirmation of their interpretation of the current curriculum and will therefore continue with their current approach to taste. The importance of taste turned out to be great and influenced the teacher's planning. In addition to a basic approach to taste, the saperemethod is positive for building relationships between teachers and students.
