Vemodets paviljong - Förslag till Sveriges nationella paviljong för Venedigbiennalen genom dramaturgisk sekvensering

Detta är en Master-uppsats från Lunds universitet/Institutionen för arkitektur och byggd miljö

Sammanfattning: Traveling by foot, one swiftly moves between continents. The Venice Biennale is a place where countries can see the world and, at the same time, be seen by the world. Since 1895, the Biennale has brought together the world’s leading artists and architects. Sweden shares a pavilion with Norway and Finland, which means artistic compromises and Sweden’s participation only every third Biennale. The thesis proposes a Swedish national pavilion in the Biennale area, Giardini. The pavilion would mean that Sweden, Norway, and Finland had separate pavilions, as Finland already has its own national pavilion. The Swedish pavilion takes into account the unique local context and, above all, Sweden’s culture, as it is a place for the world to experience Sweden. After analysis, Swedish melancholy is deemed the most characteristic of Swedish creativity. A new method is developed to translate art into architecture. The concept of “dramaturgical sequencing” is coined as a way to interpret music, poetry, film, and theater and transform them into architecture and spatial experiences. The concept is connected to the dramatic curve, Gaston Bachelard’s theory of “the poetic image,” and Gordon Cullen’s sequences. Tranströmer’s poem “Allegro” is interpreted through dramaturgical sequencing as the foundation for the proposal of the Swedish national pavilion.
