Det kvinnliga ansvaret och det manliga privilegiet

Detta är en Kandidat-uppsats från Lunds universitet/Sociologi

Sammanfattning: The study aimed to examine whether a work time reduction from eight to six hours a day affects equality. Household equality has been operationalized into being responsible for housework tasks. The empirical data for the paper is from a previous study by the National Institute for Working Life which this essay has been given permission to use. Two questions were asked and answered: Would a work time reduction lead to increased male participation in housework? Would a work time reduction lead to increased female participation in housework? The questions were analyzed using four different perspectives: the resource perspective, the eco-nomic perspective, the construction of gender perspective and one of equal households. A quantita-tive method is used and statistical analyses are carried out. The results showed that a reduction in working time did not lead to either increased male or female participation.
