Remitteringars påverkan på fattigdom i utvecklingsländer : En kvantitativ studie om remitteringsflödet i U-länder

Sammanfattning: Remittances have become a source of income for people living in developing countries. On the other hand, it is not known if remittances has an impact on poverty in those countries that according to the World Bank is classified as developing countries. The purpose and aim of this study is to analyze if there is a relationship between remittances and poverty in countries that according to the World Bank is classified as developing countries. Our database consists of 23 countries that had available data for the time-period between 2008-2017. The study uses a quantitative research method and the data was collected from the World Bank and PovcalNet. In total, five variables where used to reach the aim of this study, two of them where poverty measurements and the other three variables (GDP per capita, remittances and gini index) consists relevant information to the study of analyzing if there is a correlation between remittances and reduced poverty. We have chosen to use two different migration theories and the new institutional theory in our study. Using a panel dataset, we found out that remittances reduce poverty in the developing countries.
