Sammanfattning: This essay aims to examine the public’s trust in the social service’s work with children and young people and whether it is possible to find a connection between the trust and the media as a source of information. The study is based on a quantitative approach in the form of a questionnaire study shared through the digital forum Facebook. The study examines the public’s trust in the social services based on questions about social workers goodwill, competence and Swedish legislation. The results show that there is generally a low level of trust in the authority and that it is possible to find a certain connection between trust and the media as a source of information. The results also indicate that a larger proportion of people doubt Swedish legislation rather than the goodwill of social workers. The study is not statistically significant, which is why conclusions are only based on the respondents who participated in the study.
