Sammanfattning: The internet and other digital services have increasingly become an integral part of everyday life for many people. The increase in available bandwidth and cheaper access gives designers the means to design both new devices and services that take advantage of this, which in turn creates a demand for further increases in infrastructure capacity. The energy required to power this infrastructure has an impact on the environment and research has been done within the field of HCI to address this in various ways. Some projects have tried to challenge the current paradigm by proposing ICT systems powered by solar energy. This paper describes a qualitative Research through Design study that was conducted to explore how users of video streaming services would experience a limited and intermittent video streaming service running on solar energy. It concludes with suggestions on how to design intermittent video streaming services.
