Sammanfattning: The aim of the report is to develop a new design proposal for an existing senior high school building in Skärholmens Center, Stockholm. The schoolhouse is a result of the extensive residential project during the period between the years 1965-75 in our large cities peripheral and holds anonymous and "gray face" that has characterized many houses from the same era. Over the years, the number of students steadily declined and the reason lies partly in the school's physical environment which can certainly be regarded as substandard. This despite the fact that it is located right next to Sweden´s largest trading block. A thorough analysis of the school building and the ambient area has been made in combination with a continuous dialogue with students and staff at the school. The school building has subsequently been transformed and given a new look with the hope to contribute to a nicer, safer, more attractive and stimulating learning- and workplace. To achieve the result, an extensive research on the physical school environment and its meaning has been made, which many experienced school architects and experts considered valued lower than it should. The transformation involves a major reconstruction of a now very anonymous school house in a suburban environment which would result, what may seem as an expensive business, but according to many, yet one well spent.
