Påskupploppen 2022: Ett underrättelsemisslyckande?

Sammanfattning: The easter riots in Sweden 2022 occurred as Rasmus Paludan and his political party Stram Kurs embarked on their pre-election tour across several Swedish cities. These riots sparked a debate as to whether the burning of holy scriptures was to be considered protected under the right of expression or not. The riots in of themselves showcased violence and destruction rarely seen in Sweden and also highlighted the incapability of the Swedish police force to prevent and handle civil unrest of that nature and scale. This study sets out to examine the police’s intelligence activity before and during the riots, to analyze what (if any) failures of intelligence might have led to a restriction in the capability of the Swedish police to face the violent forces. The study finds that along all steps of the intelligence cycle, there are minor and major flaws in their work and thus purpose to provide intelligence to aid the operational section within the police force.
