Psykisk ohälsa bland gymnasieungdomar "Alla har ju dåliga dagar"

Sammanfattning: Mental health issues among youth and young adults in Sweden have been on the rise for many years now. At the same time, awareness hasincreased as well as research on the issue. Sweden has distinguished itself with higher statistics on youth’s mental healthissuescompared to its neighboring countries. Many suggestions on the cause has been made, both in health research as well as sociological and pedagogical. The purpose of this paper has been to seek the youth’s own voices on the issueof mental health, as well aseducation’s and teacher’s role in mental health. This has been done through semi-structured interviews with students of upper secondary school in Sweden, and teachers in the same grades. The results support earlier research and find that school has an important and problematic role in the formation of youth’s mental health.
