Sammanfattning: Author: Mia Björklund Title: The barriers of psychiatry - A qualitative study about young adults experience of adultpsychiatry (translated title) Supervisor: Marianne Larsson Lindahl The purpose of this study was to explore young adults experience of adultpsychiatry. The study was based on eight interviews with young adults in the age 23-30. The analyze was done with the assistance of the tidal model and the stigmatheory. The main outcome of this study was that most of the respondent had negative experience of adultpsychiatry. They felt that the staff only saw them as social security numbers and only saw the diagnosis – not them as individuals. The respondents expressed that they wanted to be given the opportunity to influence their own care and that the staff should be more helpful, engaged and take the time to sit down with the respondent.
