  1. 1. Optimization of Solid-State Fermentation process for brown seaweed using LAB and characterization of the products

    Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Bioteknik (CI); Lunds universitet/Bioteknik (master)

    Författare :Sweta Singh; [2024]
    Nyckelord :lactic acid bacteria; solid-state fermentation; Alaria esculenta; Saccharina latissima; seaweed fermentation; biotechnology; Technology and Engineering;

    Sammanfattning : Fermentation has played a vital role in human history, offering solutions for food preservation, culinary diversity, and the creation of diverse and flavorful foods and beverages. Its importance continues today, both in traditional practices and in modern industrial applications. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Investigation of Milled Wood Lignin Extraction Using Enzymatic Hydrolysis for Application in Hydrophobic Barriers in the Food Packaging Industry

    Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Kemiteknik (CI)

    Författare :Anna Wagne; [2023]
    Nyckelord :Lignin; extraction; hydrophobicity; chemical engineering; Technology and Engineering;

    Sammanfattning : The objective of this report is twofold: to optimise the extraction method of lignin from spruce altering a few process parameters and to investigate the use of lignin as a hydrophobic barrier in food applications. The process used was STEX (steam explosion) pretreatment followed by enzymatic hydrolysis and MWL (milled wood lignin) extraction using a mixture of dioxane-water. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Predicting Treatment Performance Using Ternary Plot : Macronutrients’ impact on biomass conversion efficiency

    Uppsats för yrkesexamina på avancerad nivå, Uppsala universitet/Institutionen för geovetenskaper

    Författare :Madeleine Gobl; [2022]
    Nyckelord :Black soldier fly; organic waste treatment; biomass conversion efficiency; treatment performance; macronutrients; ternary plot; organic waste; amerikansk vapensflugan; triangulär diagram; organiskt avfallsbehandling; organiskt avfall; behandlingseffektivitet; biomassomvandlings-effektivitet; makronäringsämnen;

    Sammanfattning : Black soldier fly larvae (BSFL) waste treatment is becoming a more sought-after organic waste treatment since it produces larvae for animal feed as well as fertilizer, the need for prediction and optimization of treatment performance increases. This study aims to predict biomass conversion efficiency (BCE) for waste going into treatment, using only the nutritional data from other studies as it could give a good performance estimation while using available data. 4. 4. Analysis and Valorization of Bark from Silver Birch, Scots Pine, and Norway Spruce : Compositional analysis of bark from common Swedish trees in forestry, to optimize sustainability procedures and monetary value of bark residue

    Kandidat-uppsats, Umeå universitet/Kemiska institutionen

    Författare :Isak Lindbäck; [2022]
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Silver birch, Scots pine, and Norway spruce are the three most common types of trees in Sweden and make up to 90% of standing volume in Swedish forests (Skogsstyrelsen 2015, 3). With millions of cubic meters of wood being cut down annually, bark and other residues that cannot be used for sawn timber is left over and burnt for energy. LÄS MER

  5. 5. How the Choice of Primary Treatment Affects the Biogas Potential of Primary Sludge

    Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Kemiteknik (CI)

    Författare :Fanny Blom; [2022]
    Nyckelord :wastewater treatment; primary treatment; biogas potential; primary settling treatment; rotating belt filter; chemically enhanced primary treatment; environmental engineering; water resources engineering; Technology and Engineering;

    Sammanfattning : The global heating has resulted in rising temperatures and more extreme weather conditions around the world. In combination with increasing energy demands, this has led to an increasing demand of renewable energy. One option is utilizing the wastewater to produce biogas. There-fore, wastewater can be seen as a resource rather than waste. LÄS MER
