  1. 1. Development of a guide system for free neutron oscillation searches at the European Spallation Source

    Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen; Lunds universitet/Lunds Tekniska Högskola; Lunds universitet/European Spallation Source ESS AB

    Författare :Linnéa Björk; [2023]
    Nyckelord :ESS; neutrons; dark matter; antimatter; neutron guides; Physics and Astronomy;

    Sammanfattning : In this project, a neutron delivery system for the study of free neutron oscillations at the HIBEAM beamline at the European Spallation Source (ESS) has been developed. The HIBEAM experiment is part of a two-stage program at ESS which will address open questions in physics; specifically the nature of dark matter and the observed asymmetry between matter and antimatter in the Universe. 2. 2. Coupling of neutron optics and shielding using Vitess and Geant4

    Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen; Lunds universitet/Kärnfysik

    Författare :Ellen Brydevall; [2016]
    Nyckelord :Geant4; gamma radiation; neutron; ESS; Vitess; Physics and Astronomy;

    Sammanfattning : The European Spallation Source (ESS) will be a material research center built around a powerful neutron source. At ESS, researchers will be able to carry out precise measurements using neutron scattering. The quality of the measurements is determined by the signal-to-noise ratio. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Fast Photoneutron Detection

    Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen; Lunds universitet/Kärnfysik

    Författare :Emil Rofors; [2016]
    Nyckelord :Neutron; neutron detection; spallation; scintillator; Monte Carlo; Physics and Astronomy;

    Sammanfattning : The purpose of this project was to investigate fast photoneutron production from a series of materials commonly used for backing neutron beam guides. Fast neutrons were knocked out of these materials by exposing them to to high-energy photons at the Tagged-Photon Facility at MAX-lab in Lund, Sweden. LÄS MER
