  1. 1. Trace element leaching from alum shale fines and red ash from Kvarntorp during a large column test

    Kandidat-uppsats, Örebro universitet/Institutionen för naturvetenskap och teknik

    Författare :Helena Rydfjord; [2022]
    Nyckelord :Alum shale; Leachate; Trace elements; Kvarntorp;

    Sammanfattning : Fuel shortage during the Second World War led to oil production in Kvarntorp, Kumla during 1942-1966 by pyrolyzing alum shale rich in pyrite, FeS2, and organic material such as kerogen. This production has led to a lot of waste laying deposited out in the open after the mining closed and has had negative environmental impact in the form of ongoing weathering and leaching of acidic water and leaching of trace elements into its surroundings. 2. 2. ENVIRONMENTAL RADIOLOGICAL STUDIES OF KVARNTORPSHÖGEN Dose and Radiological Risk Assessments for Humans and Biota

    Master-uppsats,

    Författare :Felicia Hultqvist; [2021-04-06]
    Nyckelord :Medical physics; NORM; TENORM; Shale ash; Uranium; Polonium; Radiological risk; Humans; Biota;

    Sammanfattning : Background: The pile Kvarntorpshögen and the lakes Surpölen and Norrtorpssjön are the remains of an industry which mined and processed oil shales to extract oil during World War II. The pile mainly consists of shale ash, a waste from the production, while the lakes are nowadays water-filled mining pits. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Inversion of SkyTEM Data Based on Geophysical Logging Results for Groundwater Exploration in Örebro, Sweden

    Uppsats för yrkesexamina på avancerad nivå, Luleå tekniska universitet/Geovetenskap och miljöteknik

    Författare :Andrée Kindlund; [2021]
    Nyckelord :SkyTEM; hydrogeophysics; geophysical logging; A priori; groundwater exploration;

    Sammanfattning : Declining groundwater tables threatens several municipalities in Sweden which drinking water is collected from. To ensure a sound drinking water supply, the Geological Survey of Sweden has initiated a groundwater exploration plan. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Metal mobility and transport from an oil-shale mine, Lake Nõmmejärv, Estonia

    Kandidat-uppsats, Stockholms universitet/Institutionen för naturgeografi

    Författare :Åsa Ekelund; [2020]
    Nyckelord :Mine waste; Heavy metals; Oil shale; Lake sediments; Lake Nõmmejärv; Human impact; Kurtna kame field; Estonia.;

    Sammanfattning : Mining activities have a large impact on the environment, for example by the release of heavy metals from acid mine drainage and erosion of mine waste. North-eastern Estonia has the largest commercially exploited oil-shale deposit in the world. LÄS MER

  5. 5. STABILITY ANALYSIS OF A LONGWALL MINING IN NARVA OIL SHALE MINE

    Master-uppsats, Luleå tekniska universitet/Institutionen för samhällsbyggnad och naturresurser

    Författare :Ott Oisalu; Taavi Lõhmuste; [2017]
    Nyckelord :longwall mining; oil shale; stability analysis; chain pillars; barrier pillar; slope stability;

    Sammanfattning : Oil shale industry in Estonia is looking at other mining technologies as alternative to strip mining and room and pillar mining methods. One such alternative to the room and pillar method is the punch-longwall mining method. LÄS MER
