1. The Effect of Variability Imbalance on Lead Time
Master-uppsats, Uppsala universitet/Institutionen för samhällsbyggnad och industriell teknikSammanfattning : This master's thesis investigates the impact of unbalanced variability on lead time using a simulation-based optimization approach. Based on the hypothesis, variation of service time has a strong effect on lead time. LÄS MER
2. A NEW STUDY OF UNBALANCED PRODUCTION LINE WITH OPTIMIZATION
Kandidat-uppsats, Högskolan i Skövde/Institutionen för ingenjörsvetenskapSammanfattning : This project is a continuous research of a topic well-known in the literature, namely, the performance study of unbalanced unpaced production system. In the literature, there were many studies that investigated the statistical outputs of an unbalanced production line using simulation. LÄS MER
3. A Study of the Effects of Operational Time Variability in Assembly Lines with Linear Walking Workers
Master-uppsats, JTH, Industriell organisation och produktionSammanfattning : In the present fierce global competition, poor responsiveness, low flexibility to meet the uncertainty of demand, and the low efficiency of traditional assembly lines are adequate motives to persuade manufacturers to adopt highly flexible production tools such as cross-trained workers who move along the assembly line while carrying out their planned jobs at different stations [1]. Cross-trained workers can be applied in various models in assembly lines. LÄS MER
4. Analyzing firm performance in a glass industry: a non-parametric frontier approach
Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Nationalekonomiska institutionenSammanfattning : A non-parametric data envelopment analysis (DEA) method is applied in this study in order for calculating the technical and scale efficiency of a glass factory by means of a production frontier, despite the common trend among contemporary literatures to use stochastic parametric methods and ‘estimate’ the frontier production function. The available aggregated structure of the firm data paved the way for the authors to rethink and adopt a mathematical (linear programming) approach which would make it possible to conduct the study with a limited number of observations and without the detailed form of the production function.
