1. Stratigraphy and palaeoenvironment of the early Jurassic volcaniclastic strata at Djupadalsmölla, central Skåne, Sweden
Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Geologiska institutionenSammanfattning : From the almost 200 volcanic outcrops in the Central Skåne Volcanic Province (CSVP), only three are of volcaniclastic material. These volcanoclastics, and the transition to the underlying crystalline basement, have been investigated for the first time in a drill core (KBH2) from Djupadalsmölla in order to understand the stra-tigraphy, depositional process, age of deposition, and depositional environment. 2. Petrography and Mineral Chemistry of the Sälskär Breccia (Alnö Alkaline Complex, Central Sweden)
Kandidat-uppsats, Uppsala universitet/Institutionen för geovetenskaperSammanfattning : Primitive magmas can provide important details about the mantle from which they are derived. In this thesis, petrographic observations and new mineral chemistry analyses of the Sälskär breccia from the Alnö alkaline complex, central Sweden, are reported. LÄS MER
3. Magma Mixing and ReplenishmentBeneath Laurens Peninsula, Heard Island
Kandidat-uppsats, Uppsala universitet/Institutionen för geovetenskaperSammanfattning : Heard Island is a remote Australian territory which lies in the South-middle sector of the Indian Ocean. The island lies in the central province of the Kerguelen Plateau. On the north-western face of the islandlies the Laurens Peninsula, where modern volcanism has been periodic since approximately 10 ka, butno eruption has been recorded. LÄS MER
4. Record of the end-Triassic mass extinction in shallow marine carbonates: the Lorüns section (Austria)
Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Geologiska institutionenSammanfattning : The end-Triassic mass extinction (ETE) was one of the five big mass extinctions of the Phanerozoic and occurred ~201 Ma ago. Research agrees that the main triggering factor for the ETE was the eruptions of the Central Atlantic Magmatic Volcanic Province (CAMP), linked to the break-up of the supercontinent Pangaea. LÄS MER
5. Mercury in Fossil Leaves as a Proxy for Tracking Large Igneous Province Volcanism
Kandidat-uppsats, Uppsala universitet/Institutionen för geovetenskaperSammanfattning : During some mass extinctions, usually minor, world oceans also underwent anoxic to euxinic conditions, events called Oceanic anoxic events (OAEs). Such an event unfolded during the Toarcian (∼183 Ma), called the T-OAE which is suggested to have been caused by Karoo-Ferrar Large Igneous Province (LIP) volcanism. LÄS MER
