Sammanfattning: LARO is a treatment method with strong scientific support, among things it is included in being considered "best practice" according to the EU's EMCDDA. However, despite the scientific support, the treatment is perceived as controversial and has received much criticism. The aim of this study was to research what professionals within LARO themselves consider to be the strengths and weaknesses with the treatment from a professional perspective. The method used to research the aim was qualitative interviews, where five professionals at two different LARO-receptions were interviewed about what they considered to be strengths and weaknesses with the LARO-treatment from their professional perspective. To analyses the results of the interviews, Antonovsky's health theory, the salutogenic and pathogenic approach, and KASAM were utilized. The results of the study display that the strengths with the LARO-treatment are, according to the professionals, that they through a continuous process investigate if the patient has an opioid addiction before prescribing LARO. The treatment also enable the possibility for patients and staff at LARO to create a good relationship. LARO likewise provide patients with both medical treatment and counselling. Another strength with the treatment, according to the professionals, were that awareness of the patients' vulnerability in society, made it easier for the professionals to provide help. The weaknesses with the LARO-treatment which the professionals identified, include mortality and medication safety, medication leakage that exist in the treatment receptions, as well as that professionals can become co-dependent with their patients. In turn, this can harm the patients long term.
