DEN VISUELLA SMAKBILDEN Hur bilder kan användas i produktdesign för smakförmedling av vin

Sammanfattning: This bachelor thesis explores how images can be incorporated in wine packaging design to convey the flavour profile of the beverage inside. Djuce canned wine is the thesis study subject, as its packaging design uses unique art images to adorn the different wines in their collection. This thesis examines how well Djuce semioticly and iconographicly convey the flavour profile of the wine with the art images used on their cans. Two images have been analysed using a semiotic and iconographic method. Comparison to the flavour profile written of the wine affiliated with the images analysed has then been made to see if there is a connection between them. The purpose of the thesis is to get a better understanding of how flavour can be conveyed in a multimodal way. The study shows that there are some connections between the signs found in the images and the flavour profile of the corresponding wine and that the art images somewhat convey flavour. This interdisciplinary study could later be developed and applied to fields like product design, beverage advertising and artistry.
