Sammanfattning: The aim of this paper was to compare differences between groups of parents regarding their perceptions of gender and sexuality in the exercise of their parenthood and upbringing of their children. To be able to compare groups of parents, we chose to look upon the following groups: gender, age, education, sexuality, religion and amount of children. The study was based on web surveys containing twenty-two questions. Of these twenty-two questions twelve of them were basic questions regarding the groups mentioned above. Ten questions were questions about different situations concerning gender and sexuality. These web surveys were sent out to three different groups on Facebook, of which two were specific parent groups. The results of the web survey show that some groups, such as sexuality and religion, show interesting differences. It appears that LGBTQ parents tend to see more openly about gender and sexuality regarding their children than heterosexual parents, in the same way that religious parents tend to have a more closed mind towards these issues. Our conclusion is that we wish to have had the opportunity to make a larger web survey with more focus on the groups education and gender. However, we found interesting results showing that this essay is relevant for social work because of the large amount of time spent with children matters regardless what kind of social worker you are. Questions about how to support these children in need of a more open-minded childhood and help parents who aren’t enough authoritative are relevant for us after finishing this essay.
