"För att det ska bli en utbildning i mänskliga rättigheter behöver vi ju lyfta fram att det faktiskt är rättigheter det handlar om" : En kvalitativ intervjustudie om barns mänskliga rättigheter i förskolan

Sammanfattning: The aim of this qualitative study was to find out how preschool teachers could make children aware of their rights and how preschool teachers describe how they work with children’s human rights in the didactically planned teaching based on the four main principles, article 2, 3, 6 and 12 of the UN Convention on the Human Rights of the Child. This study was made against the background that the Convention on the Rights of the Child became Swedish law in January 2020. To answer the purpose of the study, six semi-structured interview was conducted with preschool teachers at four different Swedish preschools. The empirical data was then analyzedand the findings was discussed in relation to didactic theory, with a special focus on the didactic triangle and the didactic questions, and John Dewey’s theory of learning, to get a deeper understanding of preschool teacher’s work in children’s human rights. The result of this study shows that both direct and indirect methods are used to teach about children’s human rights. The preschool teacher’s descriptions however indicates that indirect methods, in the form of attitudes and approaches and a project-oriented work are the most common form of teaching about children’s human rights. The preschool teachers in this study also described that they did not work enough with children’s human rights and that the level of knowledge among the preschool teachers is too low. Thus, continued education for preschool teachers is emphasized for continued work with children’s human rights and to reach the goals set out in the Swedish preschool’s policy documents, which is the principal's responsibility.
