Sammanfattning: The conventional computer keyboard keys work as binary switch systems and have stayed the same since the invention of typewriters. With the accelerated progress in forcesensing technology, force-sensitive keyboards have become viable consumer products due to advancements in manufacturing. It gave rise to new use cases of human-machine interface and security. The current authentication system usually checks the permanent biometrics features to identify the user and authenticates the legitimacy of login requests. This report aims to propose a two-factor authentication based on force-sensitive keys and passwords known as ForceTypeID. This proof-of-concept system combined force signal and password to generate stable text strings. The performance is evaluated by the force signal of users’ typing and the dataset of the most commonly used passwords. A password strength evaluation tool is utilized to assess the performance against passwordguessing techniques. The analysis of the force signal demonstrated a selection of three levels of force was enough. In comparison, the ForceTypeID system improved exponential password protection despite using the most common passwords. The ForceTypeID user does not require any additional steps during the sign-up. The system does not require the collection of any training data and does not require the user to write lengthy text.
