Sammanfattning: The financial sector has historically showed an unequal gender distribution, where the male gender is considered a majority. A profession within the financial sector that seems to exhibit an especially uneven gender distribution in Sweden is the Equity Research Analysts. Through a qualitative study this thesis aims to describe how female Equity Research Analysts in Sweden perceive their profession. Tokenism and gender theories are mainly used to interpret and analyze the collected empirical findings. From the analysis, it can be concluded that female Equity Research Analysts face higher visibility, which they primarily perceive as an advantage. However, they also face several challenges, including breaking the norm both within the profession but also in society at large. The working environment can be characterized as macho where stereotypical masculine attributes such as being competitive, independent and hard-nosed will facilitate the adoption of the working environment.
