Sammanfattning: Aim: The aim of this study was to describe how immigrants have experienced nurse's attitude and how they would like nurse´s to care for them in the Swedish health care. Method: The authors have conducted an interview study with qualitative approach. The sampling method used was a convenience sample. The informants were recruited at a school after the authors received the principal's approval. Eight semi-structured interviews were performed with an interview guide for support. All interviews were then transcribed and analysis of the data was made through manifest content analysis Results: The results showed that informants often had been well treated by nurses in the Swedish health care but that the informants also had negative experiences that could be traced to the understanding of language and culture and these informants were also those who felt that they had been differently treated because they were of foreign origin. The informants felt it was important that nurses possessed cultural knowledge and they also stated characteristics and skills that they wished that the nurses would have. Conclusion: Nurses' cultural knowledge is important for nurses to be able to communicate and care for immigrants in a nuanced and appropriate manner. More studies with this purpose are needed to achieve results that can be generalized.                               Keywords: Experience, Immigrants, Language, Multicultural Nursing, Patients.
