Mörker över Mykene: En analys av synen på den grekiska ?mörkertidsåldern? i två klassiskarkeologiska handböcker

Sammanfattning: This essay is a historiographical analysis of the picture of the transition period between the Bronze and the Iron Ages in Greece presented in A. M. Snodgrass' The Dark Age of Greece and V. R. d'A. Desborough's The Greek Dark Ages. These handbooks have had a significant influence on their field of study ever since their completion in the early 1970's but have become increasingly criticized over the past few decades. I find that the two authors share a similar view on when the important events of the period occur, and what the outcome is, but that they have different theories on the background causes and on how to define the Greek Dark Age.
