Mellan ideal och praktik - En kvalitativ studie om barns rätt till delaktighet i barnavårdsutredningar

Detta är en Kandidat-uppsats från Lunds universitet/Socialhögskolan

Sammanfattning: Children’s participation is an important part of the Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC) and Barns behov i centrum (BBIC), but there is not much research on how social workers involve children in childcare investigations and what challenges they experience. This study examines this, as well as how the social workers believe that children’s participation will be affected by the CRC becoming Swedish law on January 1, 2020. The study is a qualitative study and the empirical data was gathered through semi-structured interviews with six social workers working with children and young people at the social service in two municipalities in Skåne. Implementation theory, the model of participation and the concept discretion have been used in the analysis. On the basis of these theories and concepts, the results show that there are several different shortcomings regarding children’s participation in the social services and that the social workers have not received much information, knowledge and guidance before the CRC becomes Swedish law. This in turn has made several of the social workers doubt that there will be any major changes in securing children’s rights to participation in childcare investigations.
