Sammanfattning: Earlier research has shown that media plays an important role in tourism processes. The digital expansion means that individuals have the opportunity to communicate their tourism experience through social network sites and in doing so take part in the development of tourism industry. The aim for the study is to contribute to the existing knowledge of tourists media interactions by focusing on volunteers and investigate how they use media as a resource and mainly as a resource for interpersonal communication in a volunteer project. The empirical material consists of participation ethnographic observations of 17 volunteers and qualitative interviews with six volunteers at the center. The analysis shows that volunteers are trying to apply their everyday media use in the specific context, but obstacles like wifi results in their media use rather being shaped by this context. The volunteers use media primarily to communicate their experiences on social media such as Facebook, Instagram and blogs. They also use different mobil functions to contact family and friends. The most significant discovery was the way volunteers went around the limited access to internet and the importance of updating their experience on social media in order to portray their journey in a certain way.
