Detta är en Magister-uppsats från Lunds universitet/Socialhögskolan

Sammanfattning: There are many children in Sweden today, approximately between 100.000 and 200.000, who have a parent that abuse drugs. Under what circumstances are they living and what consequences will it have for the children's development? In this essay, I will describe some of the literature about these children. I have also interviewed 8 children, who have participated in a groupactivity for children that have a parent, who abuses drugs. I have also interviewed their parents. The purpose of the investigation was to find out what conception children and parent have about the groupactivity. What are the advantages and the disadvantages? The results show that the children are satisfied with the group and that they have had fun. To learn to speak and to know that you are not alone, are what the children points out as the most essential advantages with the groupactivity. All of the children were very firm, when they said that the groupactivity is preferable in comparison with individual counselling. Parents were also content with the activity in the group and had the opinion that it had been helpful for the children. A disadvantage could be the risk that the child does not dare to talk about difficult problems.
