Sammanfattning: Title: Pedal Steel Guitar. How to develop a personal playing technique for an unusual instrument. This study describes how a personalized version of a pedal steel guitar can be constructed. It also describes technique exercises with the purpose of developing a personal style of playing the instrument. The results of the improved technique are displayed through the ”portfolio method”. The study makes an informative contribution in a Swedish context since there are no written sources, and no or very few informed domestic teachers and instrumentalists. In combination with video samples the text also has the purpose of introducing new players tothe instrument and its technique.
