Sammanfattning: This essay examinates two specific photographs of Leonor Fini shot by Eddy Brofferio in 1965. Fini’s way of dressing has been considered a part of her artistic expression; often featuring accessories like masks, feathers, or horns. In the photographs which this essay examinates Fini wears costumes that differ from those with which she is usually identified. The purpose of the study is thus to shed light on how the clothes and scenery relate to her paintings and what they can conceivably mean in the context in which they are produced. The research method consists of iconographic/iconological analysis of the photographs, where they are also compared to Fini's paintings. Through research based on theoretical and art-scientifical material of her life and artistry; where quotes from Fini herself and people close to her are also highlighted. This is done to understand the dialogue that the photographs can conceivably convey. The analysis shows how Fini used repetition to create a dialogue in her images, where counterparts such as day and night as well as active and passive are significant subjects in these works. The result shows how repetition forms transformation, which can be understood as symbolism for how time affects human identity. This shapes an active position in the female figures portrayed in her paintings which are revived through Fini’s representation in the photographs.
