Mental träning : ett sätt att hantera sitt lidande

Detta är en Kandidat-uppsats från Lunds universitet/Socialhögskolan

Sammanfattning: The purpose with this essay was to examine what mental training can means to people. What they think of mental training before and after a training-course and in what way a course influence them and help them to handle their pain or problems. We got the possibility to join some lessons in a course at the hospital in Helsingborg held by Hans Olsson, a behaviourist and certified mental trainer. With an inquiry and five interviews we got answers for our questions: - Did the members at the course felt that the experiences of pain were getting better? - Had the members learned to "not accept, but to live with" the pain after the course? - Was there some special reason for getting something out of the course (for example sex, age or background)? The course is carried through and served equally and in our study we couldn't find any similar characteristics that could predict a successful rehabilitation. The mental training for those who assimilated it implied that they learned another attitude towards pain both physical and psychological. The pain is still there but the mental training becomes a tool for finding a new meaning of life and a key to a more meaningful life in spite of the pain.
