Sammanfattning: This research provides insight into how organisations can operate to retain talented staff within the organisation, with focus on the new generation of employees Generation Y. The study analyses thru a digital questionnaire what factors Generation Y considers important when it comes to being satisfied at work to retain them, and the study analyses if personality is an important factor to consider. The questionnaire was sent out to participants from Generation Y who were or had been employed by the hour at the same organisation. The final result reveal which themes Generation Y deem important and how the employed group and the non-employed group differ from each other with respect to a positive or a negative work experience. The identified themes were: communication, support from supervisor, development, working climate, meaningfulness, flexibility, salary, the company’s reputation and resources. The results only show a significant result in differences of the personality trait conscientiousness. This study points to the fact that the priorities for Generation Y are different in relation to previous studies.
