Sammanfattning: In today’s society there is a teaching dominated by teaching aids. Selander & Skjelbred (2004) describes the concept of teaching aids and define it as a resource for teaching and learning. The author highlights how teaching aids are referred to as collective names for textbooks, exercise books, reading books and dictionaries. That learning materials are intended as a resource and asset in the described respect can contribute to consequences from a professional perspective. To clarify what is meant by the reasoning, we choose to refer to Professor Härenstam. Härenstam (2006, p. 46) states that the perfect teaching material does not exist and probably never will either. In order to further develop what is the basis for the statement, a problem with, among other things, limited space in relation to the curriculum is substantiated. Despite the demonstrated problems with teaching aids, they are still frequently used in teaching around the world. In our opinion, the use of teaching aids is not wrong. Widholm (2020, p. 13) emphasizes, among other things, how important it is with the teacher's conscious choice of teaching materials for good knowledge development in line with the curriculum. In the study, we are keen to shed light on how gender order and equality can be interpreted in teaching materials for primary school. In the primary school curriculum for religion, the National Board of Education (2018, p. 216) highlights how life issues such as equality and gender roles should be treated in teaching. Gender roles and gender order are also what will be analyzed in our selection of learning materials based on text, images and layout.
