Sammanfattning: The aim of this bachelor thesis is to study purchasing incentives for different professional tumble dryers for apartment buildings in Sweden. Professional tumble dryers are both expensive and energy demanding equipment, with models that differ significantly in purchasing price and running cost. This thesis examines two kinds of tumblers; vented and heat pump tumble dryers. The latter is often marketed as the obvious choice when it comes to being environmental friendly and economical long-term, but is seldom critically reviewed. Both case and survey studies have been conducted to examine user behaviour as respects laundry equipment. An investment calculation for various equipment has been made which is based on the purchase price, the consumer usage, running costs, a forecast of the electricity price for tenants and the additional service costs. This gives an indication on which equipment is best economically suited for a certain need. User comfort and a brief environmental discussion were also included as part of the studies. The result of the studies show that the payback time for the heat pump dryer is longer than what is generally expected, but is considered to be a viable choice over a 15-year period. The results also show that heat pump dryers are often the most environmental friendly choice as respects carbon dioxide emissions.
