”En all inclusive-tjänst” - En kvalitativ studie om medlemmars erfarenheter av coworking, känslan av gemenskap och arbetstillfredsställelse

Sammanfattning: Coworking is a growing phenomenon in the labor market due to the digitalisation, flexibilisation and also the recent pandemic. Coworking is not only a new way of working, it also contributes to a wider sense of community and work satisfaction. It is widely anticipated that coworking will continue its growth and expansion, reaching even greater heights in the foreseeable future. Yet, empirical research regarding coworking in a Swedish context, as well as members' experiences with coworking, is lacking. This report therefore aims to broaden the understanding of coworking in the Swedish labor market and to shed light on individuals experiences at a specific coworking company. Through this research, the goal is to contribute with insights and generate additional knowledge on the subject of matter. This by answering three questions about what reasons there are for using coworking, pros and cons of the way of working, members sense of community and their work satisfaction. The theoretical framework of the report is based on previous research within the field of coworking and theories about sense of community (SOC) and work satisfaction. The study has a qualitative methodical approach, based on ten semi structured interviews within one coworking company in Gothenburg. In the report we identified different reasons as to why individuals use coworking spaces and what their experiences of coworking is. The result shows that the primary motivation for utilizing coworking spaces lies in the flexibility they offer and the opportunities they provide for networking. Key benefits reported by users include the convenient central location and the professional ambiance that coworking spaces present. The results indicate that members of the coworking company exhibit high levels of work satisfaction and experience a strong sense of community.
