Sammanfattning: The issue of this study is the lack of success concerning projects, and in particularly projects that uses information and communication technology (ICT) to form a group in a so called virtual team. Ever since the project form was launched as a working method, the research has been interested in studying and improving the concept . This may apply even more to virtual teams which although creating new and even global cooperation opportunities at the same time have given rise to new collaboration problems. To address this, the study will be exploring following key question: how do projects participants and core stakeholders perceive the factors that are viewed as contributors to virtual teams efficiency? Present research studies has been used to form questions concerning participants experience of how factors deals with effectiveness. Our findings indicate that factors considered to contribute to the effectiveness of virtual teams differ between the requested groups – steering committees, project managers and team members. This is most clearly seen concerning factors as management, technology and chosen method. Team members considered agile approach as a prerequisite for success, and highly valued factors such as good communication, cooperation and trust; whilst these factors are considered troublesome by steering committees and project managers. A side effect of our survey leads to a specification of the concept of efficiency. The study argues that goal effectiveness and group effectiveness are more appropriate concepts to measure the more substantial goal: project effectiveness.
