Detta är en Kandidat-uppsats från Lunds universitet/Sociologi

Sammanfattning: Gang criminality is a much-discussed topic that is extensively researched. The knowledge gained from the research explains why individuals become gang criminals and which factors make gang criminals remain in the gang. However, there is less research on which interventions are effective for leaving the gang and why. The current study aimed to compile the international research literature on the interventions effects on individuals who want to leave the gang. The study also intended to investigate which conclusions can be drawn from the compilation and to what extent the conclusions are transferable to a Swedish context. A systematic literature study was carried out which, after the selection review, included 12 scientific articles. The current study found that effective interventions for defectors must address all aspects of the defector's life in order to successfully disengage the defector completely from the gang. The family is an important resource that can meet many of the defector's needs. Role models are also important as well as means of livelihood that in addition gives the defector a context and meaning which are effective components in disengaging from a gang.
