How Blockchain Is Affecting Globalization

Sammanfattning: This paper examines how blockchain is and can solve many of the problems in globalization as it has appeared in the forefront as a disruptive and decentralized innovation. With the potential to aid and change policies, governments, states, international organizations and even our daily lives. Specifically, this thesis empirically focuses on how blockchain technology is being used in each factor of globalization and blockchains impact on a global scale. In contrast to other studies, I have considered that blockchain technology is about so much more than just cryptocurrency and bitcoin, it has the potential to be used as tool in many different areas and can assist with many of the problems affecting the world today. While it is important to also recognize the cryptocurrency side it is just one side of blockchain technology. Using both primary and secondary sources I have analyzed both primary and secondary data and of how blockchain is empowering or disempowering both states and IO’s as well as contributing to change and continuity in global governance. There is evidence to prove that blockchain technology will revolutionize the field of IR with its vast support from International organization and states. Moreover, since this technology is so decentralized, functionable and prevailing it is often compared and insinuated that this technology will be used for years to come and will take on a similar path as the all technology advancements before such as the internet and computers.
