  1. 1. Object-Based Classification of Vegetation at Stordalen Mire near Abisko by using High-Resolution Aerial Imagery

    Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Institutionen för naturgeografi och ekosystemvetenskap

    Författare :Marco Giljum; [2014]
    Nyckelord :Physical Geography and Ecosystem Analysis; Object-Based Image Analysis; OBIA; Vegetation Classification; Permafrost; Arctic Peatland; Remote Sensing; Aerial Photography; Environmental Monitoring; Landscape Analysis; Earth and Environmental Sciences;

    Sammanfattning : The focus of this work is to investigate and apply the remote sensing method of object-based image analysis (OBIA) for vegetation classification of a permafrost underlain peatland in sub-arctic Sweden, by using aerial imagery of high resolution. Since the northern landscapes are an important source of naturally stored CH4 and CO2, their contribution to the global carbon cycle is a focus in research about climate change and the global methane exchange. 2. 2. Degrading palsa mires in northern Europe : changing vegetation in an altering climate and its potential impact on greenhouse gas fluxes

    Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Institutionen för naturgeografi och ekosystemvetenskap

    Författare :Julia Karlgård; [2008]
    Nyckelord :geography; physical geography; palsa mires; northern Europe; greenhouse gas fluxes; Earth and Environmental Sciences;

    Sammanfattning : The on-going global warming is projected to have large impacts on the arctic and subarctic environment. Especially vulnerable are ecosystems with narrow climatic envelopes and with small possibilities of adaptation. An example of this is the palsa mires, subarctic mire complexes with patches of permafrost. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Limnological responses to late Holocene permafrost dynamics at the Stordalen mire, Abisko, northern Sweden

    Magister-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Geologiska institutionen

    Författare :Anders Nilsson; [2006]
    Nyckelord :geography; geology; limnological responses; late Holocene; permafrost dynamics; Stordalen mire; Abisko; northern Sweden; Earth and Environmental Sciences;

    Sammanfattning : A composite sediment sequence, consisting of a Russian core and an overlapping freeze core, comprising the uppermost meter of the sediment record, was retrieved from Lake Inre Abborrtjärn in the Torneträsk valley in Lappland, northern Sweden. The core was subsampled for analysis of organic matter content, inorganic carbon content and analysis of the sediment composition using a technique known as structural analysis, resulting in a high-resolution data set spanning the last 2000 years. 4. 4. Snow cover dynamics and plant phenology documentation using digital camera images and their relation with CO2-fluxes at Stordalen mire, northern Sweden

    Magister-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Institutionen för naturgeografi och ekosystemvetenskap

    Författare :Susanne Svensson; [2005]
    Nyckelord :naturgeografi; climatology; cartography; carbon flux; climate monitoring; physical geography; snowmelt; pedology; geomorphology; geomorfologi; marklära; kartografi; klimatologi; Earth and Environmental Sciences;

    Sammanfattning : This report investigates the utilization of digital camera images (DCIs), sensitive in the visible part of the spectrum, for documentation of seasonal and inter-annual variations in snow cover and plant phenology. The DCIs used were transformed to orthographic images (ortho-image) from ordinary oblique DCIs taken between January 2001 and December 2003 at a sub- arctic mire (Stordalen) in northern Sweden. 5. 5. The dynamics of non-methane hydrocarbons and other trace gas fluxes at a subarctic mire in northern Sweden

    Magister-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Institutionen för naturgeografi och ekosystemvetenskap

    Författare :Kristina Bäckstrand; [2004]
    Nyckelord :geomorfologi; naturgeografi; climatology; cartography; climate change; carbon cycle; physical geography; nodelling; pedology; geomorphology; marklära; kartografi; klimatologi; Earth and Environmental Sciences;

    Sammanfattning : In the context of climate change, it is important to understand how the terrestrial carbon cycle is interacting with the anthropogenic increase in atmospheric carbon dioxide (CO2) concentration. Boreal and subarctic regions in the northern hemisphere are great carbon pools, as well as they are subject to predicted warming. LÄS MER
