1. A coupling method using CFD, radiative models and a surface model to simulate the micro-climate
Master-uppsats, KTH/Teknisk mekanikSammanfattning : The increasing demand for energy, depletion of fossil fuels, rising global warming, and greenhouse gas emissions have stimulated the need for widespread development and adoption of renewable energy sources (RES) worldwide. Among these sources, solar energy has emerged as a major contender to meet the growing demand. LÄS MER
2. FPGA Implementation of an Online Free-Space Optical Communications Test-Bed
Master-uppsats, KTH/Skolan för elektroteknik och datavetenskap (EECS)Sammanfattning : Free Space Optical (FSO) satellite communications is proving to be a key enabling technology for global connectivity with the ability to provide connection across Europe with only 12 ground stations. For this, Deutsches Zentrum für Luft- und Raumfahrt (DLR) is working on implementing a robust communication system for FSO on a Xilinx RFSoC Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA)( ZU28DR). LÄS MER
3. Verification and validation of the implementation of an Algebraic Reynolds-Stress Model for stratified boundary layers
Master-uppsats, KTH/Teknisk mekanikSammanfattning : This thesis studies the implementation of an Explicit Algebraic Reynolds-Stress Model(EARSM) for Atmospheric Boundary Layer (ABL) in an open source ComputationalFluid Dynamics (CFD) software, OpenFOAM, following the guidance provided by thewind company ENERCON that aims to make use of this novel model to improvesites’ wind-field predictions. After carefully implementing the model in OpenFOAM,the EARSM implementation is verified and validated by testing it with a stratifiedCouette flow case. LÄS MER
4. Evaluation of a stochastic model of coherent turbulent structures for atmospheric particle deposition applications
Uppsats för yrkesexamina på avancerad nivå, Uppsala universitet/Luft-, vatten- och landskapsläraSammanfattning : In this thesis, we have evaluated a stochastic Lagrangian model for computing particle deposition rates with prospects to use for atmospheric deposition applications. The model is one-dimensional and models the particle dynamics in the boundary layers near walls and obstacles by simulating the coherent turbulent structures and Brownian motion governing the wall-normal transport. 5. Turbulence Intensity During Low-Level Jets in the Baltic Sea
Kandidat-uppsats, Uppsala universitet/Luft-, vatten- och landskapsläraSammanfattning : Low-level jets (LLJs) are local wind speed maximums in the atmospheric boundary layer. In the Baltic Sea, LLJs are frequently occurring in spring and summer. It is an important phenomena to consider for wind energy parks, and changes in turbulence during the jets can effect the efficiency of said parks. LÄS MER
