  1. 1. PERFORMANCE OF THE PHOTODETECTOR FOR THE ACTIVE SHIELD OF THE COSI SPACE TELESCOPE

    Master-uppsats, Luleå tekniska universitet/Institutionen för system- och rymdteknik

    Författare :Daniel Álvarez Franco; [2022]
    Nyckelord :Geant4; scintillation; BGO; CsI; simulation; COSI; telescope; photoelectric effect;

    Sammanfattning : The COmpton Spectrometer and Imager (COSI) is a space telescope that aims to study the soft gamma regime (0.2-5 MeV), capable of performing spectroscopy, imaging and polarimetry of cosmic gamma sources. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Characterization of a Bismuth germanate Anti-Compton Scattering Shield for use with a Germanium COMPEX detector module

    Kandidat-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Kärnfysik; Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen

    Författare :Samuel Dawes; [2022]
    Nyckelord :COMPEX; Lundium; BGO; ACS; gamma-ray spectroscopy; Physics and Astronomy;

    Sammanfattning : The scope of this work is to help determine the functional improvement brought on by introducing a Bismuth germanate (BGO) Anti-Compton Scattering (ACS) shield system to a germanium COMPEX detector module. The COMPEX germanium detector module is already an extremely useful addition in examining gamma-ray spectroscopy. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Simulation of Anti-Compton Shield Augmentation to the Lundium Decay Station Using Geant4

    Kandidat-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Kärnfysik; Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen

    Författare :Daesung Cho; [2019]
    Nyckelord :Lundium; Geant4; Anti-Compton shield; gamma spectroscopy; Physics and Astronomy;

    Sammanfattning : The Lundium decay station improves on the existing TASISpec spectrometer used to investigate the nuclear structure of superheavy nuclei by photon- and charged particle-spectroscopy. This thesis aims to explore the potential benefits of the future Lundium station with the augmentation of anti-Compton shields com- posed by a set of BGO scintillator bars. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Monte Carlo Simulations of a Clinical PET system using the GATE Software

    Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Sjukhusfysikerutbildningen

    Författare :Henrik Bertilsson; [2009]
    Nyckelord :Nukleärmedicin; Medicine and Health Sciences;

    Sammanfattning : Introduction: Monte Carlo simulation is a powerful tool in research in the field of nuclear medicine imaging and there is a wide area of applications. The purpose of this work was (1) to understand the basics of the Monte Carlo simulation software Geant4 Application for Tomographic Emission (GATE); (2) to create a model of Philips Gemini TF PET/CT system; (3) to run a number of simulations to compare the performance of the model to published data for this system; and (4) to further investigate how scattered radiation affects the image quality.
