   Sammanfattning : When the Swedish Christian Democratic Party launched the term “verklighetens folk” (the people of the reality), describing a conflict between the intellectual and cultural elite and the big majority of the voters, they became heavily criticized for trying to get votes in morally grey areas. This essay argues that there is not only tactics to this and claims that the statements are indeed effects of a ideological change where the party, dealing with a more socially fragmented world, are changing from claiming that the state should enforce universal values to a position where protection of individual rights, especially socially, is the most important issue.
