  1. 6. Characterization of Alcohol Modulation of a Pentameric Ligand-gated Ion Channel with Electrophysiology and Molecular Dynamics Simulations

    Master-uppsats, KTH/Tillämpad fysik

    Författare :Sabina Gutheim; [2021]
    Nyckelord :Biophysics; Electrophysiology; MD simulations; Ligand-gated ion channels; GLIC; Ethanol modulation; Biofysik; Elektrofysiologi; MDsimuleringar; Pentameriska ligandstyrda jonkanaler; GLIC; Etanolmodulering;

    Sammanfattning : Pentameric ligand-gated ion channels (pLGICs) are membrane receptors that play a crucial role in every living organism. The pLGIC protein structure forms a pore through the membrane of a cell that can let specific ions pass through, upon activation by endogenous agonists. LÄS MER

  2. 7. Polarisation-resolved super-resolution microscopy

    Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Fasta tillståndets fysik; Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen

    Författare :Wouter Duverger; [2021]
    Nyckelord :biophysics; microscopy; super-resolution microscopy; polarisation microscopy; STED; Physics and Astronomy;

    Sammanfattning : This project aims to implement polarisation microscopy on the Tegenfeldt STED (stimulated emission depletion) microscope. STED microscopy is a targeted optical super-resolution method that can attain sub-diffraction resolution using visible light. LÄS MER

  3. 8. Improving the temporal resolution of a microspectrometer for the study of the photophysics of enhanced green fluorescent protein

    Master-uppsats, KTH/Tillämpad fysik

    Författare :Lukas Rane; [2021]
    Nyckelord :Biophysics; EGFP; Fluorescence; triplet state; Biofysik; EGFP; fluorescens; triplet tillstånd;

    Sammanfattning : The use of fluorescent proteins as fluorescent markers has exploded over the last decades. In particular due to the development of advanced microscopy for live cell measurements, dynamic molecular studies down to single molecule levels and for superresolution microscopy. LÄS MER

  4. 9. Formation of biological membranes

    L3-uppsats, Uppsala universitet/Molekyl- och kondenserade materiens fysik

    Författare :Rebecka Lexelius; [2020]
    Nyckelord :Molecular Dynamics; Lipids; DPPC; Biophysics;

    Sammanfattning : The amphiphilic property of phospholipids drives the spontaneous formation of various molecular aggregates in response to their surrounding environment. In this study the concentration of 1,2-dipalmitoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphocholine (DPPC) lipids in water was varied in order to investigate the naturally occurring arrangements over time, and specifically the propensity to form monolayers on the water-vacuum interface. 5. 10. Towards a better understanding of protein structures : assessing the sulfur bridge in Cystine through photofragmentation

    Kandidat-uppsats, Uppsala universitet/Materialteori

    Författare :Emma Danielsson; [2020]
    Nyckelord :biophysics; python; simulation;

    Sammanfattning : This work aims to investigate the fragmentation of an ionized Cystine molecule, as simulated in the framework of molecular dynamics and quantum mechanics. Cystine is viewed as a model system for larger sets of peptides -- ultimately contributing to the understanding of protein photofragmentation, which is crucial for determining the structure of a protein using new methods.
