  1. 1. Optimization of Gammasphere Data Following the Nuclear Reaction 36Ar + 24Mg → 60Zn∗

    Kandidat-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen; Lunds universitet/Partikel- och kärnfysik

    Författare :Paul Böhm; [2023]
    Nyckelord :re-calibration; Gammasphere; 54Fe; Physics and Astronomy;

    Sammanfattning : The experiment at Argonne National Laboratory aimed to study the fusion-evaporation reaction following the collision of a high-energy particle beam of 36Ar with a stationary target of 24Mg. This paper outlines the creation and implementation of an automated re-calibration procedure for the high-purity Germanium detectors comprising the Gammasphere array used for γ-ray spectroscopy in this experiment. 2. 2. Investigation of plasma cleaning on molybdenum crystals for diagnostic mirrors in fusion devices

    Master-uppsats, KTH/Skolan för elektroteknik och datavetenskap (EECS)

    Författare :Hafssa Laabadi; [2023]
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : In the long-term energy scenario, nuclear fusion is a promising low-carbon and sustainable energy source. The unavoidable exposure of the wall materials to the plasma is a big challenge in realizing a fusion reactor. The plasma-facing components (PFCs) in the reactor wall will experience erosion deposition in the surface materials. LÄS MER

  3. 3. The Bloch-Messiah theorem and its application to overlaps

    Kandidat-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Matematisk fysik; Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen

    Författare :Frieder Selisko; [2023]
    Nyckelord :Physics and Astronomy;

    Sammanfattning : The Bogoliubov transformation is the starting point for the Hartree-Fock-Bogoliubov method and thus for many theoretical approaches that describe heavy nuclei. This transformation is based on two matrices, denoted by U and V, which are called Bogoliubov amplitudes. In this paper the properties of these matrices are investigated. LÄS MER

  4. 4. One-Dimensional Velocity Distributions of Fast Ions under RF Heating Including Doppler Shift in Tokamaks

    Master-uppsats, KTH/Skolan för elektroteknik och datavetenskap (EECS)

    Författare :Lukas Bähner; [2022]
    Nyckelord :plasma; fusion; ICRH; Ion Cyclotron Resonance Heating; RF; radio frequency; Fokker-Planck equation; Fokker-Planck solver; quasilinear operator; Coulomb collision; Doppler shift; velocity distribution; local temperature; plasma; fusion; ICRH; joncyklotronuppvärmning; RF; radiofrekvens; Fokker-Planck-ekvationen; Fokker-Planck-lösare; kvasilinjär operator; Coulombkollisioner; Dopplerskift; hastighetsfördelning; lokal temperatur;

    Sammanfattning : The goal of nuclear fusion research is to create a clean and virtually limitless energy source. In order to that, a plasma must be heated to hundreds of millions degrees Celsius. A commonly used heating mechanism is ion cyclotron resonance heating, where antennas emit radio waves into the plasma. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Use of the JET pedestal database to assess the role of ion temperature and plasma rotation on the discrepancy between ideal peeling-ballooning model and experimental data

    Master-uppsats, KTH/Skolan för elektroteknik och datavetenskap (EECS)

    Författare :Max Eichenberger; [2022]
    Nyckelord :Nuclear fusion; Joint European Torus JET ; H-mode; pedestal; Edge-localized-modes ELMs ; Peeling-Ballooning; relative shift; ion temperature; plasma rotation; Kärnfusion; JET Joint European Torus ; H-läge; piedestal; ELM Edge LocalizedModes ; peeling-ballooning; relativ förskjutning; jontemperatur; plasmarotation;

    Sammanfattning : Next-generation and present fusion devices such as the Joint European Torus (JET) aim for plasma operations in H-mode, a plasma regime with high confinement and low loss of energy and fuel that results from a barrier for heat and particle transport at the plasma edge, the pedestal. Due to steep gradients of the density, temperature and pressure profiles, the pedestal experiences instabilities called Edge-localized-modes (ELMs) which lead to large fluxes of heat and particles that might damage machine components.
