1. Gray matter alterations in individuals with PTSD compared to controls : A systematic review
Kandidat-uppsats, Högskolan i Skövde/Institutionen för biovetenskapSammanfattning : This systematic review aims to investigate the alterations in gray matter volume (GMV) observed in the brains of individuals diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) through the Clinical Administered PTSD scale (CAPS) using Voxel-Based Morphometry (VBM) as a method. PTSD is diagnosed when an individual meets all the criteria for PTSD as defined by the DSM, which includes having experienced or witnessed a traumatic event, experiencing intrusive symptoms such as flashbacks or nightmares, avoiding triggers related to the trauma, experiencing negative changes in mood and cognition, and experiencing changes in arousal and reactivity. 2. The Evil Inside : A Systematic Review of Structural Differences in Psychopathy
Kandidat-uppsats, Högskolan i Skövde/Institutionen för biovetenskapSammanfattning : The purpose of this systematic review was to characterize further the structural differences in the prefrontal cortex, limbic and paralimbic regions and amygdala alone in psychopaths. Psychopathy is a multifaceted personality disorder characterized by interpersonal and affective traits like lack of empathy, guilt or remorse, shallow affect, and carelessness, as well as behavioral traits such as impulsivity, and poor behavioral control. 3. Structural brain deviations in chemical intolerance: : A voxel-based morphometry study
Kandidat-uppsats, Umeå universitet/Institutionen för psykologiSammanfattning : Chemical intolerance (CI) is a term that refers to an affliction where a normally harmless smell couldgive reactions similar to those of allergy. There is no strong physiological evidence explaining thisphenomenon and therefore renders the affliction medically unexplained. LÄS MER
4. Detection and Quantification of Small Changes in MRI Volumes
Master-uppsats, Uppsala universitet/Institutionen för informationsteknologiSammanfattning : The focus of this research is to attempt to solve the problem of comparing two MRI brain volumes of the same subject taken at different times, and detect the location and size of the differences between them, especially when such differences are too small to be perceived with the naked eye. The research focuses on a combination of registration and morphometry techniques in order to create two different possible solutions: A voxel-based method and a tensor-based method. LÄS MER
