21. The effect of abiotic and landscape features on abundance of Anopheles larvae
Master-uppsats, SLU/Dept. of EcologySammanfattning : Mosquitoes are medically the most important group of insects, transmitting a number of deadly diseases, including malaria. Female mosquitoes transmit them while feeding on human blood, which is required to mature eggs. It is important to understand vector population dynamics in order to effectively control them. LÄS MER
22. Female mate choice and modulation of oviposition preference in the moth Spodoptera littoralis
Kandidat-uppsats, SLU/Dept. of Biosystems and Technology (from 130101)Sammanfattning : In this thesis, two aspects of reproductive behaviour in the Egyptian cotton leafworm, Spodoptera littoralis (Lepidoptera:Noctuidae) were studied. The first was whether female moths make a mate choice based on precopulatory assessments of male mating partners, and the second whether larval food plant experience of an ectoparasite modulates the female choice of oviposition site. 23. Differences in host plant preferences and olfactory physiology between populations of the moth Spodoptera littoralis established in Egypt and Benin
Master-uppsats, SLU/Dept. of Plant Breeding (from 130101)Sammanfattning : This study was made to compare and distinguish any differences in olfactory recognition and host plant adaptation between two strains of cotton leaf worm, Spodoptera littoralis. The populations used were established in Egypt and Benin, Africa. LÄS MER
24. Habitat selection and oviposition of the endangered butterfly Scolitantides orion in Sweden.
Master-uppsats, Institutionen för fysik, kemi och biologi; Tekniska högskolanSammanfattning : Detailed knowledge about the habitat requirements of butterflies is vital for successful conservation. The aim of the present study was to examine the habitat requirements of the endangered butterfly Scolitantides orion on 15 sites in Östergötland, Sweden. LÄS MER
25. The structure of a patch : within and between patch variation and the oviposition of the small white butterfly
Master-uppsats, SLU/Dept. of EcologySammanfattning : The selection of a host plant for egg-laying is an important element in insect-plant relationships, the survival of the offspring often depends on the choices made by gravid females. Plants are diverse and not evenly distributed in space or time and insect females search for host plants at gradually finer spatial scales. LÄS MER
