1. Three-body decay as a baryon polarizer
Kandidat-uppsats, Uppsala universitet/KärnfysikSammanfattning : According to the standard model, the size of CP violation in the weak decay Λ → pπ- is predicted to be ∼ 10-5. This means that a very high precision is needed if we want to be able to measure it. LÄS MER
2. Improving polarizing neutron optics by introducing 11B4C as interlayers
Master-uppsats, Linköpings universitet/TunnfilmsfysikSammanfattning : In this report, the effects of adding 11B4C as interlayers into Fe/Si multilayers is studied. Fe/Si multilayers are commonly used for neutron polarization at large research facilities, and improving the polarizing properties would improve their efficiency. LÄS MER
3. Formulation of Model Problem for Chirality Induced Spin Selectivity Effect
Kandidat-uppsats, Uppsala universitet/MaterialteoriSammanfattning : Spin dependent electron transport in chiral molecules, the so-called chirality induced spin selectivity (CISS) effect, have attracted much attention over the past few years. Experimentally the spin polarization has been detected, and there is a theoretical consensus on the necessity of both spin-orbit coupling and geometrical helicity in order to get a non-vanishing spin polarization. 4. The Magnon-Phonon coupling from a microscopic perspective
Kandidat-uppsats, Uppsala universitet/Materialteori; Uppsala universitet/Institutionen för teknikvetenskaperSammanfattning : In this project a microscopic description of the magnon-phonon coupling is rederived. This theory is then used to simulate the thermalization process between the spin and lattice system in NiO. It is argued that the Kusuya-LeCraw process (1 mg + 1 ph into 1 mg) cannot be the reason that the phononic and magnonic systems reach a thermal equilibrium. LÄS MER
5. Theoretical understanding and calculation of the Edelstein effect
Kandidat-uppsats,Sammanfattning : The main topic of this project is the so called Edelstein effect. This recently discovered effect consists in the possibility of converting an electric field (a current) into a magnetization in materials that fulfill specific characteristics, more specifically materials where an effective Rashba spin-orbit coupling is present.
